Our well established client is looking for a Deputy Editor for their popular wine magazine-you will need to have a minimum of two years’ in a business to business publishing environment as a Deputy Editor, following at least three years’ in a junior Deputy Editorial publishing position-if this sounds like you read on!!

Duties:

1. To commission articles, reports and pictures that are of business interest to the specific industry, that are in line with the magazine’s features list and the requirements of its news service, and that are within budget, to ensure that information and illustrations for publication are obtained, expenditure on contributors’ contributions is kept within budget, the magazine is kept on schedule and a platform is provided for the sale of advertisements.
2. To support the editor in visiting companies and industry events to gather information and illustrations for publishing and in doing so, to represent the company to ensure that information and illustrations for publication are obtained, travel expenditure is kept within budget and relationships with industry leaders are maintained.
3. To edit commissioned and other articles and reports ready for publication, and prepare pictures and other illustrations, to ensure that material is prepared for publication, on budget and within schedule, and the Editorial style is maintained and developed.
4. To supervise the make up of pages according to flatplan to ensure that the magazine is prepared for film making.
5. To ensure the Sales team are fully briefed on forthcoming features and can therefore sell advertising around them.
6. To liaise with other departments and outside companies as and when needed to ensure that the team operates as effectively and efficiently as possible.
7. To respond to external enquiries and problems to ensure that good relationships are maintained with readers and advertisers.
8. To recommend and help to develop ideas for new products to ensure that new business opportunities are identified and maximised
